In the past many wild plants would have been eaten, drunk or used for some medicinal or functional purpose. There's a sense of wonder in learning how to find and identify edible plants and how to harvest and cook them.
I remember going out on botanical expeditions in Lancashire many years ago with an old vicar who would hold forth about plants that were good for ‘brewing, chewing and stewing’. I was soon hooked. Years of smallholding, raising animals and children and botanising all over the country have all added to this rich vein of green.
I run a number of foraging and plant hunting days, searching for edible and medicinal species. Come and learn to identify and use some of the plants that grow wild and [weather permitting] light a fire, make a herb tea and cook a selection of what we collect.
